After many flip-flops and saumersaults, the Government of Goa has finally decided to allow 1. Indoor dances in hotels and halls 2. traditional dances, other than on the beaches and beach shacks. We organised the dance last year. 365 days later ....it is a tradition!! The bands in attendance are: CASCADES ALCATRAZ CRIMSON TIDE Sound by BOB Raul, Gaunsavaddo- Mapusa Mood Setter: UPDESH SWAR Venue: ALVA MAR, Parra-Saligao Road Dress: STRICTLY FORMAL. Gents will need to wear formal suit with tie to come on the floor to dance. Ladies: Any formal wear, ethnic or western. No jeans, shorts or T-shirts for either gender, please. Please do not embarrass us by having to decline entry for anyone accompanying you. The event is scheduled to start at 8 P.M. Please come latest by 9.00 P.M. because 1. there may be a traffic jam on the roads. 2. there may be a rush as beach parties are banned from 23 Dec onwards. 3. you will get to meet and talk with friends before the dancing begins Look out for advertisements in the HERALD newspaper, our Media partner. there is one advertisement at the bottom of page 15 today, 21 December, 2008. As a measure of gratitude for your support last year in making the event a success, the dance will be with Free Entry [worth Rs.500/- per couple] for all Britto's OBA MEMBERS. Roque Carvalho at Mapusa Service Station/Petrol Pump 94220 57544 Non-members of the Britto's OBA can obtain entry passes at Rs. 300/- per Gent and Rs. 200 per lady ....or join the Britto's OBA now. If you have not yet joined the Britto's OBA or have friends who are Britto Old Boys or BOBs [anyone who has studied at least ONE academic year in the St. Britto School, Mapusa, qualifies for membership], pick up a membership form from Keny or Roque, fill it, sign and give cash or cheque in favour of "Britto's OBA" payable anywhere in Goa [preferably in Mapusa] and almost certainly you can be a member on verification by the Managing Committee. Life Membership is Rs.2,000/-. Student membership [valid for five years after SSC, if not employed]is Rs. 200/-. For those who really cannot afford either of the fees, sponsorship by other BOBs is available on request. BOBs in the Arabian Gulf countries have been very generous in this regard while BOBs in Goa have generaously supported the activities through sponsorships, advertisements or volunteer service. Patron membership fee is Rs.15,000/-. Anyone eligible to be a member can be a Patron Member. There is no pressure to become a patron as we have paid all our bills and have money for day to day expenses of the Britto's OBA. Every member is eligible for a FREE copy of the BRITTO'S RETRO [a compilation of alumni memories from 1946 to 2006 while stocks last. If you are already a member, we thank you for enrolling and have sent a message to your last known email ID on the members' list. We cherish the association of BOBs as members in the difficult years. The Britto's OBA, unlike Oliver Twist, is committed to not asking for more, save your time to be in the new Managing Committee due to be elected for a two-year term beginning July, 2009.
