The recent case of rioting and arson that took place at Rumdamol-Gogol brings to the fore the BJP government's communal agenda. In February this year and even at this year Diwali celebrations certain groups spent lakhs of rupees in celebrating Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, put up posters all over Margão, took processions , made huge lanterns and installed at traffic island without permission from authorities. And the concerned authorities did nothing. WHY? Since nothing was done, now Mysoreans feel they too can celebrate Tipu sultan's Anniversary in a similar way, and have put up posters to celebrate. This has now led to this clash with rioting and arson. Goa would do well to BAN all celebrations of Maharajas, Sultans & Shahs , rather than make Goa their battle field which was successfully put a stop to by Timayya by inviting the Portuguese for the last four and half centuries.
