The casino issue is not new. Even the appointment of a gaming commissioner was conceptualised by the previous ruling goverment and Parrikar kept reassuring the people that he would clear all the obstacles as far as casinos creating problems to the public, but time ran out for him and the poor fellow could not put things right in the interest of Goans especially Panjimites.
This new and fresh inducted CM, probably with the association of the runaway entrant from Congress Babush Monserrate, plans to put the system in condition as per his promise in his Vision document within 100 days but the CM says he now needs time to examine the situation. This is not a new situation. And this is not a new government. The BJP had been in power in Goa for years, and been in charge of Panjim for decades! Is there a possibility of the casinos remaining permanently in the river Mandovi or will his examination be favourable to the interest of the public? If he succeeds in getting rid of the casino menace after his 'examination' Goans will give him excellent marks for being a successful Examiner.
