Dear Editor/s

Sir/s

Please publish this letter as we have similar case at the slope of Dona
Paula near the circle which is worst than recent Chimbel accident. This
Dona Paula slope needs to be widen immediately before such kind of serious
accident takes place. Already number of accidents have taken place but the
traffic authorities have not yet widen this road.
This is a highway road coming from Bambolim to Dona Paula and suddenly
getting narrow near the slope. Sometimes back, a lady doctor met with an
accident in this slope and had to be hospitalised and replaced her ball
joint of one of her leg. Vehicles are coming in such a speed that they
cannot control their speed because of road is just getting narrower all of
a sudden on this slope. Worst part of it there is no sign boards nor a
speed breaker. We had suggested a small island kind of it so that at least
the speed of vehicular traffic is brought down but nothing has been done
yet. A footpath has further agravated to narrowing down this road. I know
there was a original plan to divert the vehicular traffic but it has been
altered to satisfy some vested interest. Therefore this slope is becoming a
dead trap for the residents of Dona Paula especially our colonies existing
nearby as the lane is just coming out having hardly any visibility. Many
tourists buses and 4 wheelers park their vehicles on this slope. Now a
tourism project is coming up at this vicinity which is definetly going to
agravate its congestion. The plan is to help the tourists vehicles to have a
parking place. This project must be shelved as it is not going to serve any
purpose but in fact more accident will continue to take place because it is
just at the junction of this slope. How the TCP is approving high rise
buildings coming up in this residential area having no proper road?
We have NIO staff and Our Lady of Rosary School students vehicles and
nearby colonies continuously using these roads.
