The Cuncolim Welfare Trust organized a picnic to Khandala for it's Managing
/ Sub-committees and Welfare Trust members in the month of July 2007. A
small gesture "*To say a very big Thank You*" for all their efforts in
working unceasingly throughout the year towards achieving the goals of the
organisation and also making the annual social a grand success.

*Picnic at Khandala *

*A firsthand account by Dr. Cedric Moraes*

In the days gone by, when travel was a major hassle, hills stations like
Matheran, Mahableshwar and Lonavla were the pick of the Mumbaikars holiday
destinations, but Khandala due to it's picturesque surroundings and blissful
weather was the Queen Bee.

Hence it was with eager anticipation that my wife and I accepted the chance
to be a part of the Cuncolim Welfare Trust Committee picnic going to
Khandala and reviving nostalgic memories.

Cuncolkars, always do things in style, so it was no surprise that the
arrangements were meticulous, Right from organizing the transportation, the
delicious snacks, the food, a gourmet's delight and entertainment throw in
for free. St. Mary's Villa occupies a pride of place overlooking the ravine
and mini waterfalls and the lodging provided were most amenable to all.

Special mention must be made of certain individuals who helped to make this
a memorable and enjoyable occasion. Evans Fernandes and Joe Martins provided
us musical interludes seconded by the ladies, Laurencia, Sylvia, Loretta and
Mabel, between the eating / hogging sessions, which saw no end to the food
and snacks offered varying from grilled chicken, fish, to wholesome snacks
and food provided by the in-house caterer.

Benes / Sylvia Coutinho were the quiz kids, Tony Coutinho the housie man,
Joe, Francis Jacques and Alex D'souza the chefs on duty and the picnic was
orchestrated by Nassim, Ronnie with assistance from Jack of all trades –
Chris.

The bus ride back to the city was uneventful with all the occupants
savouring the short and enjoyable outing to lovely Khandala at St. Mary's
Villa and we were glad to rekindle our fond memories of this small and
delightful picnic destination.

All members who attended had a wonderful time.

Nassim appreciated the efforts and Excellent work of Rony, Christopher, Joe
and Evans for making the weekend memoriable. Thank You All.
