I wanted to write a status, "Feeling like a king today!" but
then the poem Ozymandias went fleeting through my mind and I
put a nix on it.

I'd like to share my feeling of elation today. In
the morning at around 10.30 I was busy at my online
job of technical editing when I heard a commotion
outside my gate. There was the vrooom ... vrooom
of around twenty five bikes and a car which
preceded them soliciting my vote for an independent
          candidate.

As I walked into my balcao, clad in my work uniform, short
shorts and tees, a lady greeted me as if I was her long lost
brother! I recognized her then. She was the independent
candidate for the Sircaim constituency Zilla Elections. In
the ordinary course of circs, I'm sure the lady wouldn't have
had the time to bat her left eyelid at me. Suddenly, I was
the focus of her charm! Anyway, as is my wont, I encouraged
her with a "My victory be yours at the hustings".

In my book of things, one must encourage those who
stand for elections, having stood for a few minor
elections myself, I can tell you, even a little bit
of encouragement no matter how insincere goes a long way!

In the afternoon, I was pottering around the house messing
around with some aerosol acrylic paint that I had bought
around five years ago and hadn't got down to using. BTW I
could give a certificate to the manufacturers as the aerosol
worked straight out of the can, five years notwithstanding.
Anyway, as i was painting away, I was visited by another
lady, this time the party candidate. I also wished her
success at the hustings and one of her supporters said that
she would win provided I supported her.

I said, of course, why not?

So now you know why I'm feeling elated. Strange people have
been smiling at me all day, waving at me, offering me
refreshments and so on. One gentleman who runs a cable
service and who sent me packing when I wanted him to give me
a cable connection passed by in the party car. The wave and
smile he gave me was as though he was going to give me a free
cable connection for the term of office of the Zilla members.

Somehow, this has sent my spirits soaring and I'm sharing my
feelings with you!
