*Sporting Clube de Goa look for first victory against Sesa*

Sporting Clube de Goa will aim to kick start their season when they lock
horns with Sesa Football Academy in round three of Gfa’s Goa Pro League at
Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Wednesday. The kick off time is 4pm.

Sporting Goa is the reigning champions of the league and with that tag
naturally means every team raises their performance, which makes every SCG
game a mouth watering prospect.

“The league is tremendously more competitive this season. Last year there
were as much as three significantly weaker teams. That’s not the case this
time around which can only be good for the lovely spectators,” remarked
Sporting Goa Coach Oscar Bruzon.

Sporting Goa is currently on 2 points from two games, while Sesa has a
single point from their first two encounters.

Sporting Goa has drawn 1-1 with Salgaocar and 1-1 with Dempo Sports Club. On
both occasions against I-League opponents, it was India International
Victorino Fernandes who came off the bench to net the equaliser for the
Panjim outfit.

Sesa lost their opening game to Cavelossim 1-2, where Alber Gonsalves
netted a consolation goal and in their second game they were held to a 1-1
draw by Vasco Sports Club and Alber again found the back of the net.

Incidentally Victorino for Sporting Goa and Alber for Sesa are the only two
players to net two goals from the first two rounds and it will be
interesting to see if they can keep up their goal per game ratio.

“We have already played Sesa in a friendly game this season and I can tell
you they give 200%. We are a better team and if we give 200% we will be
successful, stated Oscar.

When the teams met last season, Sporting Goa defeated Sesa 2-0 on two
separate occasions. The first victory came in the Goa Pro League courtesy
of goals from Victorino and Boima Jerry Karpeh, while the second meeting
was at the Super League stage where Joseph Pereira bagged a brace for the
Flaming Oranje.

The League’s top goal scorer last season, Boima Karpeh has only just
returned from Australia in the last 48 hours after securing his visa and
SCG Coach Oscar has not yet decided if he will field him.

“We have got seven matches remaining and if we want to retain our title we
are targeting twenty-one points, starting with three against Sesa,” signed
off Oscar.
