A brief report of the press conference today, Sunday Jan 27, 2008:
Addressing a press conference in Panjim, Matanhy Saldanha,
Convener of Goa's Movement Against SEZs (GMAS) made it
clear to the government of Goa that the people of Goa would
stand for nothing less than the de-notification of all the 3 notified
SEZs and the recovery of Goan land currently in possession of
the SEZ promoters.
Matanhy also said that attempts are on in the media to obfuscate
matters by injecting false propaganda such as that it may not be
legally possible to de-notify the notified SEZs. GMAS states that
there are legal provisions available to de-notify the 3 notified SEZs.
GMAS reiterates that the onus of getting the 3 notified SEZs
de-notified rests squarely on the shoulders of the Goa govt.
