Besides its beaches, Goa is now also known for rampant
corruption. With everyone racing to buy land in Goa,
unscrupulous land deals come as no surprise. The
Government has placed under suspension a Civil cum -
sub registrar Mr. Vithal Durga Talwar for alleged
large scale corruption, financial irregularities and
for having fraudulently registered various sale-deeds.
Talwar has been also accused of having allowed various
illegal and void power of attorneys to be used while
executing sale deeds. Talwar with the tacit support of
Goas Law Minister Dayanand Narvekar has amassed a lot
of wealth and disgraced the civil service. There is a
need of an inquiry into all the sale deeds executed
before Talwar and those found contrary to law should
be axed and declared null & void.
