Goa’s Mimicry King – Sheik (Xec) Amir to entertain on Friday

Xec Amir, as he is known in ‘tiatr’ circles, completed schooling from the
Mahatme School.  At a young age, he  was a regular participant at the school
shows and acted on the marathi stage. But the konkani stage beckoned. Amir used
to go along with the erstwhile singer John F.
In Premanand Sangodkars’s ‘tiatr’ titled ‘Vatt Chukli’, the young novice was
asked to sing a solo. Although a bit apprehensive to perform with the
stalwarts, Amir did sing and his humorous song received four encores.
Premanad Sangodkar booked him for all the remaining shows.

John Claro cast him in ‘Vinglli Nachpinn’ and ‘Civil Kazar’ but it was late
Fr. Freddy J. da Costa who encouraged and made him into an actor. He was cast
along with the great Jacinto Vaz, to do the comedy in hit plays like 'Utt
Goemkara’, ‘Khata Pita Dev Dita’ and ‘Goemcho Avaz’.  He has in the past
performed in Kuwait and in the Gulf.

And now for the celebrations of the silver jubilee of ‘Gulab’ the Konkani
magazine, Xec Amir  will perform in Kuwait on Friday, 15th August 2008 for
Mario Menezes’ Konkani play “Ghorabeache Vantte” to be staged at Hawalli A.C.
Auditorium to commence at 4:15 p.m.
See him perform.

The Konkani lovers in Kuwait, while wishing the organizers, Kala Mogui Kuwait
and the Gulab Working Committee, welcomes Mario Menezes and his troupe.
