GOA TO HEAR A BIG BAND: The Phoenix Foundation Big Band from Germany is funded by their arts council to perform in Goa through an invitation from Jazz Goa, an organization that offers a platform to local as well as visiting artistes from all over the world. After over three decades Goa will resound to the sound of a big band in all it's glory. The best thing about this band is the average age of the twenty two piece ensemble is twenty years and their repertoire includes a few familiar pop tracks and movie sound tracks along with intense big band arrangements of jazz standards. Jazz Goa was approached by Mother Teresa's Roses, an organization that runs a home for street children in Parra among other charitable works, to host a show in Goa to create awareness about the work being done by them. Jazz Goa gladly decided to have the big band perform for a noble cause and clubbed the two together to present 'Nuns 'N' Roses' a musical extravaganza featuring the Phoenix Foundation Big Band at the Jardim Garcia de Orta in Panjim on the 10th of March at 6pm. Entry is free and some seating arrangement will be made especially for senior citizens.
