To Goanet - Today I received a moving email from one belonging to the original inhabitants of the Island of Mumbai. He wishes to remain anonymous. He said he occasionally reads Goanet and he felt motivated to write to me after reading my "SEZ is a monster, not a rat" remark here. For he says his people have already seen and felt the full force of this monster.
He said they are now fighting a losing battle to save their tiny strip along the Gorai-Utan belt, that they have been rendered a woeful minority in their own land, that they are today landless, cultureless and in financial ruin - their land overtaken by the govt in the name of public projects, and by the proliferating slums all around. He warns that a similar fate may await Goa.
