Herald contacted the MLAs to get their views. Congress MLA Pratap Gawas when contacted by this paper said, some activists of HJS had contacted him but he did not assure any support to their campaign. "I told them I would speak to the doctor first," he said and I did speak to Dr Kerkar who clarified to me that he is not anti-Hindu. On the other hand BJP which is otherwise in the forefront lending support to organisations like HJS is rather quite, this time. When asked whether it is supporting HJS on its stand against Dr Kerkar , BJP State President Shripad Naik said, "party has not taken any decision yet." However, BJP MLA Dayanand Mandrekar was very critical of Dr Kerkar and said he fully supports campaign started by HJS against Dr Kerkar. Another BJP MLA Vijay Pai Khot though said, there is no need for any agitation said caricatures by Dr Kerkar has hurt sentiments of Hindus. It was not right on the part of Dr Kerkar to draw such caricatures of Lord Ganesha, he felt. The Congress MLA Sham Satardekar was also contacted by HJS and claimed to have said, "Kerkar has to be forced to close down his exhibition. " When contacted by this paper, he said , he is against Kerkar for what he has done. http://oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=26168&cid=26
