Hi Folks
I had the pleasure of meeting Hartman, Carmen and a couple of young Goans
working
to educate people about environmental consciousness. This included Clinton Vaz,
Terrance, Andrea(?) etc.
Along with them I had also the opportunity to address about 100 students of
Damodar
College Margao.
Carmen is organizing a save the western ghats conference in Ooty, which is
going on
right now. Environmental Minister Jairam Ramesh along with activists from all
over
the Western Ghats are meeting there. Carmen believes in talking to all stake
holders
including mining companies and bringing them together to one table. She claims
to
be a world citizen and I think she deserves it. She worked for the opinion poll
in goa
in the sixties and has been active in the environmental movement worldwide. She
is
certainly not a hypocrite who applies one rule to Goa while saluting the white
man
when in the West!
