HISTORY HOUR XAVIER CENTRE OF HISTORICAL RESEARCH
Cordially invites you to a talk and discussion on My experiments with land art and public art in Goan context by Dr. Subodh Kerkar at Xavier Centre of Historical Research Alto Porvorim Friday, 22nd August 2008 5. 30 pm Tel: 2417772 ; 2414971 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Synopsis Dr Kerkar writes: "My journey as an artist began with painting classical watercolours of traditional canoes on Goan beaches. The realistic watercolours led to creating paintings of small portions of the surfaces of boats with their divine textures. Then after that I involved myself in exploring just the elliptical form of the boat and then one day I broke the walls of my studio, went down to the beach and started using the boat itself as my medium and the beach as my canvas." Dr. Subodh Kerkar (b.1959) is one of the highly creative and leading artists in Goa. He gave up his medical profession to pursue his passion, visual art. For the past 20 years he has experimented with different media creating a niche for himself, especially in the field of land art and conceptual art. He lives and works in Goa, India and is the Founder of the Kerkar Art Complex, Calangute, Goa, founded in 1992. Dr Kerkar has more than 25 major shows to his credit.
