I am not promoting
dynasty in politics, says Churchill

BY HERALD REPORTER

MARGAO, SEPT 3 — Save Goa Front Supremo Churchill Alemao
has said his decision to field his corporate lawyer Valanka for the ensuing
Mormugao bye-polls doesn’t mean he is promoting dynasty in politics.

“Let the people decide whether they want my daughter as an MP or not. I am
going to the people. It is for the people to decide”, he said.

But, when newsmen asked whether he had no other leader in the Save Goa Front,
who could have been a Lok Sabha candidate, Alemao shot back “people from all
over Goa approach my family members for any
help or work. That time, you do not ask why the Alemao family is working or
helping the people”.

Reiterating that there’s no compromise with his decision to field Valanka for
the Mormugao Lok Sabha seat, Alemao said “All I say is that Valanka is
contesting the bye-polls. You will come to know in due course of time which
ticket she would contest”.

He said Valanka is keen to contest the bye-polls and show her ability to serve
the people.

Incidentally, besides Churchill, his younger brother Joaquim is enjoying
political power as the Urban Development Minister in the Kamat government.

His nephew, Reagan Alemao was recently elected as Panch member of the Varca
village panchayat.

His younger brother Kennedy Alemao was a member of the Zilla Panchayat during
the last term.
