Braganza, with his family, emigrated from India to the UK in the late 1960's, met his mother Joan Anne (nee Scanlan - Scanlan family from Gowna Co. Cavan and Moore family from Banagher, Co, Offaly, Republic of Ireland) and started their family in 1970 before immigrating to Canada in 1976. His Grandfather, also D.A. Braganza (popularly known as Nick who was an avid sportsman, particularly tennis), schooled in St. Joseph's Darjeeling, met his Grandmother, Julia Florence (nee Martins, born in Basra, Iraq. Martins family from Belgaum) and started their family in the 1940's. In the early 20th century his Great Grandmother, D.M. Braganza's (nee DeSouza) family having settled in Mumbai from Assagao, were involved in the horse racing circles in Bombay and Pune. In addition they owned and operated a liquor store in Colaba, Bombay and operated a catering business covering a shipping line out of Mumbai (Subarmati, Sariswati et al) After schooling in St. Joseph's, Darjeeling, his Great Grandfather, C.F. Braganza joined his father, D.A. Braganza to manage the family business, Braganza Hotel, in Lahore (near Lahore Railway station), catering for the elite at that time during the early 20th century. His Grandfather, also D.A. Braganza was born in Lahore, but the family moved to Karachi where C.F. Braganza purchased a Masonic Lodge (Marie Lodge, built 1913), which he elaborately converted into a family home for the Braganza family. ==========================
