Nov 27 - It was a year ago that Jorge departed this earthly life. He is
thought of sometimes and we miss his attention to detail on historical
facts. We learnt a fair bit from his notes over the years.

Jorge and I met in March 2000 when we went to Rome along with Filomena Giese
(her initiative) to meet the Cardinal (then Archbishop) Saraiva Martins at

This is the man I admired the most on Goanet.
Jorge de Abreu Noronha knew all the facts. He took pains to point out some
common mistakes made on things Goan. He also knew obscure facts and pointed
them out when anyone made an error.

According to information conveyed to me by Rita Henriques of the Casa
de Goa, Mr. Jorge de Abreu Noronha (b. 29.07.1930) passed away today,
27 Nov. 2007. His body will remain exposed at the mortuary chapel of
Figueirinha (Oeiras) from 17 h tomorrow evening, and will be moved to
the crematorium of t
