Dear Teotonio
My condolences to the family. It is very sad loss to the Goan community.
Jorge and I met in March 2000 when we went to Rome along with Filomena Giese
(her initiative) to meet the Cardinal (then Archbishop) Saraiva Martins at
the Congregation for Saints for the Blessed Joseph Vaz cause. We shared a
flat in Rome for a few days and I remember Jorge as a gentleman and scholar,
very knowledgeable about Goan history. He was meticulous and was always
concerned with accuracy in facts. I think he went to Goa in the recent past,
and his love for the motherland always showed. A good, honorable man and a
piece of Goa died today. May he rest peace.
