Judgement day in Goa, close fight for Cong, BJP New Delhi: Counting of votes for the elections to the 40-member Goa Assembly began on Tuesday morning to decide the next government in the state, which has experienced political instability with as many as 15 governments in the last 17 years. Counting is being held at three different stations spread across two districts. Two counting stations are in Panaji while one in Margao (south Goa). "All the 40 constituency results would be out by 11 am," Goa Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ramesh Negi said. In all, 202 candidates, including 49 independents, were in the fray for the election that was held on June 2. BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate Manohar Parrikar is in fray from Panaji, the smallest constituency, against Congress' Dinar Tarcar in a straight fight. Following are the leads and wins which are coming in: BJP leader Laxmikant Parsekar wins Mandrem seat by 1710votes Filipe Nery Rodrigues (Congress) wins Velim seat by 2,732 seats Vijay Pai Khot (BJP) wins Canacona by 709 votes Alexio Sequeira (Loutolim) wins Manohar Parrikar (BJP) wins Panaji by 1,500 Sudin Dhavlikar (MGP) leading by 2,141 in Marcaim Digambar Kamat wins Margao Filip Neri (Cong) wins Velim by 2,754 votes Ramarao Desai (BJP) trailing by 900 votes Anil Salgaonkar (Ind) leading by 2,800 in Sanvordem Francis Silveira wins St Andre Joseph Sequeira (UGDP) leads by 800 Alexio Sequeira leads in Loutolim by 1,319 Francis Silveira (Cong) leading in St Andre Laxmikant Parsekar (BJP) wins Mandrem seat Ramesh Tavadkar (BJP) leading in Poinguinim Milind Naik (BJP) elected in Mormugao According to the schedule available with CEO, Poriem constituency, which will decide the electoral fate of Chief Minister Pratpasinh Rane along with Valpoi constituency where his son Vishwajeet is fighting as an independent, will be taken up for counting in the last leg. Ahead of the vote count, leaders of ruling Congress and main Opposition BJP on Monday claimed they will form the next government in the state.
