LAW MAKERS SHOULD STOP BEING LAW BREAKERS by Stephen Dias Dona Paula 17th March 2020
With reference to the local dailies dated 17th March 2020 on PIL filed by Devika Sequeira who had guts to expose Manohar Parrikar Samadhi coming up at the crematorium venue on NDZ ( No development zone) area at Miramar beach and she challanged the HTL which is not yet demarcated and demanded the concerned authorities to look at it. The irony is that it is as if Manohar Parrikar hinself would not approve of his Samadhi to be constructed at Miramar beach, since it was his own Government's One Man Committee (OMC) on the Miramar beach privatisation, prepared and compiled by Dr. NandKumar Kamat, who is an eminent environmentalist and widely accepted authority . Another important aspect is that the Government is custodian of the Public Trust Doctrine, which envisages that the interest of the people have to be protected by the Government and thus it is a question of the Government not adhering to its responsibility towards the people of protection of public places. Other environmentalists/ scientists who are active should come out openly with their expertize in the matter of construction of this Samadhi. As such, it is at least the duty of the High Court of Bombay in Goa to stay the construction of the said Samadhi. Stephen Dias Panjimite 17th March 2020 9422443110 Sent from my Samsung device
