The Lions Club of Mormugao held their 12th Charternite celebrations and the 
installation of the BOD for the Lionistic Year 2010-2011 recently at the Hotel 
La Paz Gardens, Vasco. 

Shri Tony Dias Dy. Commissioner of Customs & Central Excise graced the occasion 
as the Chief Guest and Ln. Celso Dias Lions Club of Loutolim, was the 
Installation & Induction Officer. 3 new members were inducted by the Club. 
Region Chairman Ln Abhijeet Salkar and Zone Chairperson Ln Lady Nelly Rodrigues 
were also present at the function. 

The new BOD for the Lionistic Year 2010-2011 is as follows; Ln Daniel F de 
Souza President, Ln Adolph Dalgado Secretary, Ln Valente D’Costa Treasurer, Ln. 
Subash Kamat 1st VP,  Ln. Cdr. P. J. Augustine 2nd VP, Ln. Francis Gurjao Tail 
twister, Ln.  Lady Cristine D’Costa  Ln Lady  Carmin Augustine & Ln Dr. Nimish 
Pillai all Directors, Membership Chairman Ln  John Fernandes and Lion  Tamer Ln 
Titus Moraes.  

The Chief Guest Shri Tony Dias applauded the Lions Club of Mormugao for the 
services they render to the Society and was all praise for their adoption of 
Asha Sadan a school for the poor and destitute children.  He congratulated the 
new BOD and wished them well in all their future projects. 

The incoming President Ln. Daniel F. de Souza in his acceptance speech while 
emphasizing on the projects undertaken by his predecessor and assuring to 
continue them also declared the new projects he wishes to undertake. He said he 
would focus on the youth community and conduct seminars to educate them on the 
implications of Drug abuse & Cyber age Crimes besides having a Career Guidance 
Seminar. He also said he would conduct workshop to spread awareness on the 
detection & prevention of ‘Cervical Cancer’ among women. He also declared a 
project to distribute around 50 Tripod Walking Sticks to the old & infirm 
specially those afflicted by Osteo-arthritis during this year.  The President 
also assured the gathering that he would start the Fund Raising Campaign for 
acquiring a new Hearse Van for the Club as the present one needs to be 
replaced. 

Earlier the out-going President Ln Sanat Joshi welcomed, while Project Chairman 
Ln. Titus Moraes read the Secretary’s Report, and later Ln. Cdr. P.J. Augustine 
proposed the Vote of Thanks. Ln. Afra Fernandes & Bernice de Souza compered the 
function. The function was well attended by members of other neighboring clubs 
and guests.
