The Welsh singer was introduced by British model Twiggy to Paul McCartney of 
the Beatles after she won an MTV award and at age 18, she signed on to the 
Beatles’s Apple Records, giving her a string of successes with Paul McCartney 
producing her songs. 

Sandi Shaw competed, with her simultaneous release of “Goodbye”, but it was 
Hopkin’s version that became the hit.

She was Britain’s entry with her “Knock Knock” at the 1970 Amsterdam 
Eurovision, but she lost to Ireland’s Dana who sang “All  Kinds Of Everything”.

These three are songs from a younger age that people from all over remember to 
this day.
