I can well believe what Pakistan must have been during those halcyon days. At a picnic/pilgrimage in Texas, some years ago, I met a number of Goans who had migrated to Pakistan some generations ago and had later settled in the Houston, USA, because of the turbulence which followed. They were very interesting and still cooked and brought along some of the typical Goan dishes (like manos with jaggery) which I had forgotten. Bernice Pereira
