Neslon Lopes writes: Mr Narendra Modi has raised a bombshell, that the Govt has spent Rs 1880 crores on the foreign travel of Mrs Sonia Gandhi for the past three years... It was not independently Verified. The activist, Mr Ramesh Verma put in a query in 2010, and has been denied the answer till 2012., and that is in spite of strong reminder by Central Information Commissioner Any query has to be provided within 30 days as per the act. It is against the law and spirit, without any explanation of such an inordinate delay. The Govt is claiming, as absurd and refusing to clarify the figure. Thus the rumour is gathering interest and fueling speculations about the veracity of facts of the expenditure incurred.
Nelson is right when he says that because there is no clarification, the rumour has a life of its own. It could well be Rs 188.0 crores, or Rs 18.80 crores, or Rs 1.88 crores, or even zero. And when the government does clarify, I trust Narendra Modi is gracious enough to apologise. Best regards, U. G. Barad
