Nostalgia Pic #9: ________________ 1972: "Bombay to Goa" the adventure-comedy movie, released on 3 March, 1972, brought much-needed light relief to a yet faltering economy still recovering from the deprivations of the previous year's Bangladesh war. "Shotgun" Sinha and the emerging (out of Rajesh Khanna's shadow) 'angry young man' Amitabh Bacchan who starred, would both go on to become MPs.
The catchy songs made the movie a huge hit, though inevitably these were plagiarised from 60's rock - Herman's Hermits, etc. The title song, "Bombay to Goa," is an absolute note-for-note cover of the Beach Boys' "Help Me Rhonda", only lyrics changed! Where were you circa that time in 1972? I know where I was - in hospital - having smashed my spine and right arm as a kid, in a horrific accident just a month later, I had to spend a year in traction, and a plate put in my arm - some nostalgia that! http://2008goanconvention.com/nostalgia.php Picture: subject to copyright, but in the public domain.
