Dears,
I believe one uses the name as appropriate. To the bus conductor it is
'Ponnje', to the Postman it is 'Panaji' to the Portuguese it is "Pangim" and
to most people residing in the town, it is 'Panjim'
The PANJIM Municipal Council is now th Corporation of the City of PANAJI.
One of it
We need to accept that there are different names for the same place in
different languages. Bicholim/Dicholim, Margao/Moddganv (not MADgao),
Chodan/Chorao, Divadde/Divar, Salgaon/Saligao, Haldone/Aldona,
Kankon/Canacona, Kongotte/Calangute. The list goes on.
Of course, you can't just mispronounce
Nearly all Catholic Goans, whom I have encountered in
different parts of the worlsd still refer to Goa's
capital as Panjim. Likewise, only officialdom calls
Margao, Madgaon and Bombay,Mumbai.
