Reply from cata...@yahoo.com Dear Mr. Fernandes, I refer to your inquiry which appeared only in GOANET [April 3]. It is not clear from your inquiry what exactly you have in mind. Are you contemplating disposing of it and so wish to know venues, means, etc? Unless one has a precise idea of what exactly is on your mind it is difficult to formulate an adequate answer. People often have distorted ideas about stamp collecting: the two most common ones are that the older the stamp, the more costly and the second, that the more countries one has in the collection, the more valuable it is. Both are wrong. I have stamps that date to 1860 (the first stamps you must be knowing were issued only in 1854 in G.B. by Rowland Hill) which are not worth more than 25 cts. and more recent ones that are worth a thousand times as much. Also, a single country, specialized with watermarks, denteles, clolour variations, postal history, etc may be worth considerably more than common stamps of a hundred countries. So, if you can give me an idea of what exactly is on your mind, I may be able to extend a wee helping hand. Marcos Gomes-Catao cata...@yahoo.com
