Prof.Nazario Road sign Even 57 years after his demise the honour bestowed upon Prof Nazario is praise worthy.The initiative by Chinchinim Deussua Panchayat after unanimous resolution of GRAM SABHA and sanction by the Panchayat is laudable exercise. When we honour our predecessors, we honour ourselves . Not many roads are avaiable to be named and it a simple gesture of gratitude .I salute the Holy Cross Chapel Committee for Honouringfirst time ever, our ward members ,thus laying a differet path to emeluate Prof.Nazario has left a legacy for which he is remebered with love and respect .His popular College of Santo Antonio with a boarding has spread literacy far and wide among those who could not migrate to cities.He reversed the frontage of Holy Cross Chapel as at present with great difficulty of financial burden.He was instrumental in establishing Death Benefit Fund which was a crying need of the time. He was instrumental in starting Century old famous KHELL MAND to prevent molestation of folks under licence of carnaval.The road from Dandeavaddo to Chinchinim was his brain child with cooperation of Dr Alvaro.Many objections and protests by adjoining land owners not withstanding. IN fact it is dedicated to the revered memory of Prof CA Gomes for his contribution to social work , in the field of art and literature and promotion of Goan culture and not because he had anything specific about the road. SIMILARLY many roads are dedicated to others for their contribution to the society The greatest sacrifice is the establishment of Copoerative Society. Chinchinim is the only Village with two units .There was tremendous opposition by vested interested He succeeded at all odds.The shop provided by Dr Alvaro has facilitated opening of fair price shop He was an ardent supporter of Opinion poll.He breathed his last under exhaustion, his coffin was drapped with flag of two leaves and was given a memorable farewell with unprecedented mourners in attendance recalling his sacrifices for the victory of Opinion Poll.He was a polyglot ,a Regidor and dispenser of medical services etc Villagers have founded an award ,a pamphlet is circulated. Besides the EC of Co operative Society has displayed a framed, garlanded photo and his resume to ackowedge his sarifices. Prof Nazario has left a legacy for prosterity to recall and for us to follow The Village of Chinchinimm salute to his memory for leaving indelible foot prints on sands of time.
