Remo Fernandes, a popular pop star and playback singer from the state of Goa, has added his voice to the 'Save Goa Campaign' and has made an appeal to Indian and foreign tourists to stay away away from Goa this year in order to keep the state alive. The 'Save Goa Campaign' is a movement against setting up of SEZs in the state in a bid to protect Goa from large influx of outsiders. Well known singer -- Remo Fernandes --- too expressed his concern on the issue and has joined hands with the locals to protest the setting up of 18 SEZs in the state. Commenting on the issue, Remo Fernandes said:"Goa is gone, the Goa that people loved does not exist any more." Meanwhile, Mathani Saldhana, the man who has spearheaded the movement to oppose the SEZ has warned tourists to stay away from Goa on 28 Dec as the front is organising massive rally to mark their protest. Making a strong statement, Mathani Saldhana categorically reiterated: "We want tourists to show solidarity with us and stay away from Goa on 28 Dec so that they do not become victims of our agitation." He has further demanded that all SEZs be scrapped immediately failing which there would be great unrest among the Goan people that would prove costly to the government. He feels that SEZs are nothing but an attempt to destroy Goa by bringing a large influx of outsiders. ***** ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals?
