Adieu my very dear friend Alfred. You touched the cords of our hearts and our
lives in a very special way. Your warmth and affection encompassed every
Indian who entered the portals of Sweden, where you opened the doors of your
Sad news about Alfred Tavares. I couldn't agree more with Bernice Pereira -
he was too magnanimous for this world and its trivialities. He belonged to a
gentler and kinder time and place. And now I am sure he is delighting that
place with his polished prose and urbane humour.
