Well, in Herald's 18th August edition there is some information buried under a big headline about the 6th Pay Commission. It seems the Hon Shantaram Naik, MP, has managed to get written replies from some of his colleagues about subjects like the 6th Pay Commission and about some health issue, presumably in Goa. But the main item in the report is about the written reply from the Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. He says that the plan for constructing an integrated passenger terminal at Dabolim Airport at a cost of Rs 396 crores will be completed in an estimated time of two years from the "award of the work". In the meantime a Detailed Project Report has been approved by AAI and apron work for providing parking space for three additional aircraft is in progress. The Minister further informed Naik that Kuwaiti designated airlines have been granted additional destinations of Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bangalore. The present ones are 5 (and to me it does not look like Goa is included!). So I dont know what the MP's purpose was in obtaining this particular bit of information. My question now is if the upgrade of Dabolim is going t cost Rs 400 crores what will become of the remaining Rs 100 crores as Rs 500 crores were announced 2 years ago. Can it be applied to the construction of Mopa? More importantly can the Civil Aviation Minister give a written reply as to why the Cabinet resolution of 2000, to close Dabolim when Mopa opens, should not be revoked? This is what Naik should prusue next. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- **** http://www.GOANET.org **** --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow the online presence of the Museum of Christian Art, Old Goa Contacts: Tel: +91 832 2285299 Email:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://christianartmuseum.goa-india.org/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
