BICHOLIM: Riyaz Khan was today unanimously elected as the chairperson of
Sanquelim Muncipal Council (SMC) during the election held at SMC hall
Sanquelim.
It may be recalled that the post of the chairman fell vacant when the
ex-chairman, Anand Naik tendered his resignation alleging political
interference in the working of the SMC.
Today, the election was held for the post and Riyaz Khan was unanimously
elected as the new Chairman.
Councilors including, Anand Naik, Yeshwant Madkar, Pooja Dangi, Laxmanrao
Desai, Deelip Desai, Aarti Naik, Sunita Verekar and Brahmanand Desai were
present.
Ajit Panchwadkar was the presiding officer for the election while chief
officer Shashank Thakur was also present during the election.
