'Seabird' phase-II to start soon at Karwar

KARWAR: "Project Seabird", the Navy's ambitious but much-delayed project
to gain "strategic depth" through a futuristic Naval base in coastal
Karnataka, is all set to take the next step forward.
Not so fast, Avelino. Phase I has
taken 7 years. Phase II has to get clearance in March. Its anybody's guess
as to how long it will take to complete. The prognosis is not good after the
7 year gestation period of Phase I. But an airport is likely to figure in it
after all thanks to the initiative
