Some Facts about Dubai Goan Soccer .

Goa is the small part of India. It is said that Music & football runs in the
blood of Goans. There are many goans working in Gulf Countries, many in Dubai.
To bring the Goan community together the Goan Cultural Society (CS) was formed
nearly 20 years back. They organized the football tournaments, tiatr, dances &
other cultural activities.

During the General election of the Goan Cultural Society in the year 2004,
The members of GCS told Mr. Salazar to step down with the entire committee and
give chance to new faces. But Mr. Salazar refused to step down. This angered
the football team managers who are also the members of the GCS. They decided to
kick out the sitting president Mr. Salazar & the entire committee members and
to elect the new President & committee from their group. Everything was set.

One the eve of the Election Day after finalizing the new president & the
committee, the Manager group came at the general election. They arrived 20-30
minutes late at the meeting. They were informed that the election already held
& the same committee is being elected. This socked the manager group. Before
the arrival of the Manager’s group there were only few members present at the
meeting. The election was held without the 3/4th majority of the members. The
managers questioned Mr. Salazar how he can hold the election without the 3/4th
majority of the members present & to hold the elections again. Mr. Salazar said
the elections are over & he cannot allow holding the elections again. This
upset the manager’s group as they walk out of the meeting and formed new group
“United Goans”.

The committee & the members were all the Team Managers. Mr. Nelson of Vaxim
Divar was elected President of United Goans. The other teams who joined United
Goans are ABC Benaulim, Lotoulim, F.C. Siolim, Fr. Agnel Pilar, AVC, Varca,
SFX. Old Goa, Anjuna, Jabel Ali Hotel Etc…

All Star Entertainment in association with United Goans organized their 1st
All Goa Inter-Village Invitation Soccer tournament in the year 2004. In the 2nd
year's finals ABC Benaulim walked off the field when the penalty was awarded
against them. It was a clear penalty. In the finals attended by a large crowd,
Russell of Vaxim Divar was fouled in the penalty area by Benaulim defender
Stanley & Russell and he fell down. The Benaulim goalkeeper Casmiro Palha ran
to Russell and raised his leg on Russell face. The linesman saw this and called
the referee and told him what has happen. The Referee immediately gave marching
orders to Casmiro. The Benaulim manager & players protested referee decision
and try to go out of the field. Not to disappoint the large crowed the
committee members met the referee and decided take back the Red card given to
Casmiro to allow him to play. I think this is the first time a referee has
taken back the red card. This did not make Benaulim camp
happy as they demand not to award the penalty also and reverse back the
decision of the referee. The committee and the referee refused to do so the
Benaulim players walked off the field thus disappointing the large crowd.

-This Year tournament ABC Benaulim team was banned. Hence, the ABC Benaulim
manager who was raising figures on GCS joined there again.

-Without informing the members GCS appointed Mr. Bonnie as the chief
organizer of the tournament held at Al Nasr. Most of the people will remember
Bonnie. He is the one who used to criticize the President, Sport secretary &
the Committee members of GSC. Here is some lines “Goan Cultural Society
Choranchi” “Chorun chorun aplim pottam & bankam borleant” etc etc….. Now the
same Bonnie is the Chief Organizer of the tournament held at Al Nasr organized
by GSC. To accommodate more teams they allowed 3 Non-Goans to play. Most of the
Non-Goans players are from Kerala, Mangalore, Mumbai, Bengal & Nepal. Is this a
goan tournament? It may be recalled that many years Goan Cultural Society used
to organize the Tournament with all the Goans players & there was no entry of
Non-Goans players.

Everyone here is surprised that Bonnie joined the GCS & all are asking the
same question for what he has joined the GSC if the society is of choran-chi?
Many think he joined just to loot the society. They have the funds of approx.
Dhs. 200,000.00 (Approx Rs. 25 lakhs). and we don’t know how much of the funds
will remain now? Zoxe amchea montreani Goeam chorun kobar kelam toxem hanga
soglle chor ektaim zaun GCS kabar kortat xe distat.

I’m not against anyone. The GCS was sleeping for 2 years for this I blame Mr.
Salazar & the then Managing committee for all the mess they have done. If they
would have step down in 2004 this would have not happened. GCS is not anyone’s
father’s property. The members have the authority to question the managing
committee and to point out what is right & what is wrong.

At last a request to Goan Cultural Society & the United Goans to solve the
differences & come together for the sake of Goan Community.

  All the best!!!!!!!!!
