International Cuisine Conference on Traditional Asian Diet Panaji, Goa, September 2-5, 2007 - http://www.indologygoa.in Online Media Partner: http://www.goanet.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hei Sir, I write to the goanet because I think rightly or wrongly that a issue that concerns me may also concern other readers of goanet. If what I write is misunderstood then I must try and do better next time. I accept that I take a risk of being attacked for what I write but then I would expect the issue to be attacked not me. Not that I mind really just that it means the point of my writing has been missed which can be frustrating. There are other reasons why I write to goanet but it is not relevant at this point besides you really don't need to know. You are right of course in saying that I am not interested in the CM per se. But I am interested in that his achievement must advance the people of Goa and the country. Again that was not the subject of the discussion. My mail shot was raising peoples attention to the state of our towns from what they once were to what they have now become and that any CM should be concerned about that. I do not see that you have built your case against me by implying that I may somehow prefer the country to slide into low employment, low education and few opportunities. But if what I think you really mean is that in getting our towns up to scratch, the areas you mention would suffer then you may have a point. But I am not sure that these areas of concern would suffer. That is why we have an administration. That however does not absolve the administration under the CM from neglecting our towns and letting them degenerate from model towns to down right slums because there is no more money in the kitty. My complaint is not either by way of example that Fort Aguad the high security portuguese prison for political prisoners, where my neighbour spent much of his life, has been converted into a flourishing tourist resort for the rich and few at the expense of education, employment and opportunities for the masses. Again that is why we have an administration to make value judgements in establishing what, when, and where it spends its money. My point is that it is about time our towns come under focus of attention and in so doing may even address the wider areas you mention which are also our concern. Like the tourist industry our towns provide a window to Goa and it provides any CM a golden opportunity to gain credit for himself and the administration while at the same time giving our towns a shot in the arm that has long been overdue. Your sentiments about my family are acknowledged. Thank you very much. My family graciously send you their regards.Sir. :))). ------------------------------------------------------- Goanet recommends, and is proud to be associated with, 'Domnic's Goa' - A nostalgic romp through a bygone era.
