I pity the people residing at Gogol Margao.

Originally a small and informal dump was created amidst the residential homes 
which over the years was turned into a huge dumping acreage without any 
consultations held with stakeholders. What’s more, this spot became The Place 
for discarding all kinds of garbage, including plastic refuse.

With a view to clearing the heap from time to time, burning was used as a means 
of disposal, but it only exacerbated the stink problem with noxious and 
carcinogenic fumes adding to the existing effluents from the garbage.

There are quite a few middle class homes which have had high incidence of 
cancer among the residents. This has been experienced for more than 20 years 
and I personally know of 3 husband and wife couple succumbing to cancer.

A medical enquiry would have found much higher rates of cancer in the 
neighbourhood though this would not conclusively prove that it was due to the 
Sonsddo for legal purposes.

But as they say, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be 
a ....
