Could be an error in translation between wagh and singh.
A leopard would be a bipto wagh. In Goa it was often simply also referred
to as wagh = tiger.

I understand the message in this story but I have to point out that there are
no tigers in Africa. This story would have been much more pleasant to read had
the author used a lion, instead of a tiger.
Or maybe, I am missing something?
