for about four hours in protest against the mining trucks plying in the area. According to the available information people led by the Bicholim Muncipal Council councillor, Bhagwan Harmalkar and Manohar Shirodkar halted about 60 mining trucks plying from Tivim to Sanquelim. The incident occurred at about 4 pm. People led the councillors stopped the trucks in protest against their rash driving, over load, weak condition of the Bicholim bridge and the road. "We have submitted a memorandum with the Bicholim Police Inspector for stopping the mining traffic in the area with immediate effect" Bhagwan Harmalkar said speaking to Herald adding "our demands is to construct new bridge and repair the roads." "The police inspector has accepted our demands and the mining trucks would not ply from Bicholim till our demands are not met." The police later fined about fourteen trucks for over loading and the deadlock broken only at 7.00 pm.
