About Our Goan Associations and Cortalim Union (UK)

Years ago, a number of Goan expats in the UK formed village communities (as
associations) to maintain their culture and support projects back in Goa. Once
a year the villagers of these associations got together to celebrate their
annual Goan village Church feast in the UK.

The celebrations provided the perfect occasion to meet one another, maintain
friendships and for a small fee or raffle allowed funds to be raised to support
the upkeep, renovation of Churches and Schools, and contributions made towards
the wellbeing of different needs in Goa.

Cortalim Union (UK), was formed in 1978. This year we are celebrating 43 years
of existence on the feast day of our village church - St Philip & St James, on
Sunday, 2 May 2021. While we cannot hold a social at a venue this year due to
the Covid pandemic and lockdown restrictions, ironically a new door has been
opened for us. To this end we are extending the invite to any Goan to join us
in celebrating our feast - wherever they may be and from the comfort of their
own homes.

Kindly request the flyer for details of our feast celebrations via email
(cortalimunio...@gmail.com mailto:cortalimunio...@gmail.com ) or WhatsApp (+44
7739 87 6718). We will also be hosting a Cake / Dessert dressing competition, a
Raffle and a Family Game. Entry to the event is free of charge, and needless to
say, you have to bring your own food and drinks with the best catering in town
– your Kitchen. Music by Outbreak.

We will be most grateful if you could consider making a donation - this is
entirely optional, the amounts are discretionary and payments can be made
before, during or after the event (details will be provided on registration).
Thank you.
