For those who are interested in architecture of building and planning of a city etc please watch this video " LISBOA AO SOM TO TANGO"
This was Lisboa-Portugal in 2008. Once you see this video, Goans will have nostalgia of what was Goa before Liberation and what is now. We cannot manage and planing of our Panaji simple gutters? ( storm water drain) which has resulted in flooding in low lying areas of the city of Panjim . Dr Nandkumar in his article in Navhind Times dated 6th Sept (Sunday ) in Panorama page, tells us that Panaji has only 9 sq.kilo metres area and the population is hardly 70.000 but I say that our Government is still not capable to look after this city inspite of so many warnings by our environmentalists, activists and scientists. We have recently witnessed floods just few days back and I saw that certain shops in Panjim city were flooded, especially many houses at Mala - Portais -Fontainhas-Boca de Vaca- St Ines Creek-Taleigao-Merces areas etc were seen flooded with the rain and Parrikar personally inspected Mala site and ordered to pump the rain water but what was the use when the water could not be pumped out, as the gutters are blocked and people had to wait for the low tides. Next day CM left to Europe with his AG Atmaram Nadkarni and leaving these affected areas without any solution? TCP, Goa Govt and Tourism dept are more interested in Tourism activities and concretization. We see tall building everywhere and anywhere in the city of Panjim without any proper planning and the TCP gives their nod and approval in random in low lying areas which comes under CRZ and that is an another reason for flooding. Goans are more interested to sell their properties to outsiders with the Tourism Dept support. We see many flats sold to outsiders and they are vacant and nobody stays permanently but they come only for visiting and holidays and enjoying Goa for drinks etc, and spoiling our beaches and roads and the garbage is thrown everywhere , environment totally damage, casinos polluting the Mandovi river, roads in dilapidated condition and the Panjim is all MESS where our MLA of Panjim is Manohar Parrikar. Goa will very soon die due to our Government apathy and corruption which will be difficult to revive back to our olden days. stephen dias,d.paula Attachments area Preview attachment Lisboa - 2008.pps Lisboa - 2008.pps <https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ui=2&ik=7e9ef40b4e&view=att&th=1484d5278160c74f&attid=0.1&disp=safe&realattid=616be8c0cb05c2be_0.1&zw>
