This month's Goanet operations sponsored by an Anonymous Donor

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

Seems Dempo partnered with Souza and became the mine owner and in the end
cheated him, could anyone throw some light on this, interesting to know.

Dears,

Sunita Narain was in Goa late last month to do her fact finding on open cast
mining in Goa before writing about it in DOWN TO EARTH a well known
environmental magazine published from Delhi.

Rajan Parrikar is the USA-based Goan who had his exhibition of photographs
of Goa at Hotel Mandovi and during the Fontainhas Festival of Arts at
Panaji - Goa.

The record of V.M.Salgaocar and Brother and V.S.Dempo & Co [operating on
what used to be Souza mines and, later, Dempo-Souza] in environmental
protection is what is called in question in the report.

Dempo is a ISO14001 certified company but still has many things to do to
become truly eco-friendly as limited as the scope in open cast mining
operations is.

Viva Goa.
