(Inputs from Mario Menezes and Anita Fernandes)

A budding comedian, a good singer and composer of lyrics, a musician and above
all,
a wonderful human being. That, in short, describes Eddison Fernandes from
Orlim, the
young man who left for his heavenly abode, on October 17, after a brief illness.

After his education, he began a service unit, functioning from Varca, called
'Master
Engineering,' which provided technical services to the public and many starred
hotels.

Eddison completed a theatre course at TACT Institute, Margao, and it was for
his
acting prowess on the Konkani stage, that he was better known. He played the
keyboards in a band and later played for Konkani dramas by Pascoal Rodrigues
and
Peter de Macazana.

In the year 2007, Mario Menezes of Menezes Theatre, picked him to play the main
role
of the comedian in his drama, 'Tumi Tumche Dolle Ughddat' opposite the seasoned
Joanna. The young man was so good, that the director continued with him in all
the
subsequent shows including 'Naginn,' 'Hi Maim Konnanchi,' the recent 'Kal Aiz
ani
Faleam' and this season's 'Beiman Kir.' Unfortunately, Eddison performed in
just two
shows, the last being in his own village, Orlim.

Besides acting in dramas, Eddison also acted in Konkani video films. Jacki-E's
"Hanv
Ankvar Kiteak Urlom' where he was teamed with Anita, comedian Michael's 'Chor
Police,' as well as 'Puro Anink Naka' and 'Bhogos Saiba' from Martin de Ponda.

A talented musician, he would also compose lyrics and render his own songs. In
'Kal
Aiz ani Faleam,' the young Rioma sang an impressive solo titled 'Music, Music.'
This
was composed by Eddison and who can forget his 'Sobit Sopon' from 'Mainche
Sukh' an
audio disc produced by Domnic and Eddison, released by Manfa Music?

Mario Menezes, when contacted, said that Eddison's sudden and untimely death
was a
shock and a great loss to Menezes Theatre and the Konkani stage. The young man
had
loads of talent and a great future, which was evident in the two years he
performed.
He had dedication, was hardworking, well behaved and was a punctual,
disciplined
artiste, characteristics that are rarely seen among newcomers, today. Others
when
contacted mentioned his helpful nature and kindness.

Eddison leaves behind his young wife, Anisha and his parents, Martino and Maria
Fernandes. While we pray for the departed soul, we also offer a prayer for the
bereaved family, that they may have the courage to face the great loss.
Tonight, I
will listen to Eddison's song 'Sobit Sopon,' as you sleep, sweet prince.
