This time, not between the Marathiwadis and the Konkaniwadis, but between the Romi Konkaniwadis and the Devanagari Konkaniwadis. A war which will be used by politicians to divide Goans along communal lines. A war which will, in the long run, only benefit the fanatics and lunatics of the RSS and BJP. The former chief minister Manohar Parrikar very insidiously exploited the disappointment and the frustration and the anger of the minority community over the 'stepmotherly' treatment given to Romi Konkani. If you made the mistake of getting onto that famous, wildly expensive, new road that goes through Merces and Chimbel, you're lucky if you reached your destination intact. Within metres from the highway, the surface crumbles to dust, by the time you're half the way there you're holding on for grim life as tarmac gives way to a treacherous pot-holed track, and by the time you reach bits of your car have fallen by the wayside along with any illusions you might retain about the sorry state of Goan affairs. -- VM de Malar in Herald [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----------------------------------------------------------------- HEADLINES FROM DITIGALGOA.com http://www.digitalgoa.com ----------------------------------------------------------------- * Migrant labour murdered at Agassaim * Goa govt to furnish bank gaurantee to 'save' Old Secretariat * Editor of Goa's leading English newspaper booked for molestation * Refrigerators carrying trolly caught fire * Court orders mine owners to desilt nalla * HC admits petition challenging gutka ban * Life Guards save two girls at Miramar * Two arrested for carrying drugs in Margao * New Bio-Tech Policy within a week * More trials for KRC's Sky Bus project * HC dismisses govt petition on old secretariat * Legal metrology inspectors pay surprise visits * State film entries to be accepted on Saturday * BJP demands Dhavlikar's resignation * Census of industries to be undertaken * 1151 nominations for 130 wards in 11 municipalities * High Court grants relief to 'closing' mines * Goa dairy milk 'adulterated', Govt to over Goa Dairy * Conf of Ambassadors of Latin American & Caribbean meet in Goa * Second state Finance Commission constituted * Court warns civic chief officer of action ----------------------------------------------------------------- EVENTS IN GOA ----------------------------------------------------------------- CHRISTIAN HISTORY ASSOCIATION OF INDIA will hold its conference at the Pastoral Institute, Old Goa from October 28-31, 2005. Break up the bread with your hands. Separately, beat six eggs and add two cups of sugar (please reduce this to one cup if you are watching your sugar intake). Beat until the mixture turns pale yellow. Slowly pour the milk mixture into the eggs and stir to incorporate. Put sugar in a baking pan and caramelize on top of the stove. Let cool, then pour in the pudding mix. Take a bigger pan and put into a hot oven. Pour about two or three cups of boiling water into the bigger pan. Insert the pan with the pudding into the bigger pan that has the water -- this is called 'Bain Marie'. Lightly cover the pan with a silver foil and bake for about 30 minutes. Insert a knife in the center to check for doneness. Goanet recipes come specially from Daisy Rodrigues.
