I deleted thousands of blobstore items that I am no longer using and my
total Blobstore size increased. Go figure.
How often is the Blobstore being used recomputed?
They seem to be able to add to the number but subtraction is apparently
more difficult. :)

To add to Blaine's comment -- you *can* map the root url i.e. '/' to an
index.html file by add something like:
# app.yaml
# ...
handlers:
- url: /
static_dir: dreamweaver_dir
