Right now I have godaddy redirecting the naked mydomain.com to
www.mydomain.com. Since I didn't want to run all my traffic thru godaddy's
servers, it is not set up as a masquerade, and users actually see www in their
address bar.
If I instead have google apps do it, as described here:

I was bitten by that. But havent tried it recently, so it might of changed.

If it makes you feel any better, that's basically the only reason I use
GoDaddy redirects as well: the
Easydns can do it too. I have found there support is very good.
