Unfortunately, there is no other way as far as I am aware.
To clarify regarding Datastore backups to Cloud Storage buckets, the
backups themselves can be deleted directly from the bucket. You can do so
from the Developers Console. It will no longer be present and no longer
cost you for storag

The backups are stored in the cloudstorage. We have some very old backups
that are stored in the blobstore as well.
