The sample <https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/cloud-profiler-nodejs#user-content-google-cloud-profiler> is based on the Alpha release of Stackdriver Profiler, while the product’s documentation <https://cloud.google.com/profiler/docs/profiling-nodejs> is on the Beta release.
