I don't know if the "bug" is solved but: try to upload to a version

Then make this the default.
A while back GAE had trouble serving new static content when you
uploaded to a default version number.

Thank you very much djidjadji, I just solved it. The images had the
extension .JPG and the html was looking for .jpg --- the case was
wrong :"> ... its almost 3 am here, and this "great" problem just
tells me its time to go to sleep :P
PS: I also switched versions as you mentioned, so I don't know
