I believe the release of Python 2.7 will bring multithreading later
this year. To compensate for it's lack right now, the GAE team is
planning to double the number of Python instances you get and cut
their prices and capacities in half.

This is what I also think.
App engine is moving closer to an IaaS rather than a PaaS service and
I believe this is not really good move.

I did'nt want to comment in the FAQ thread as I didnt have much to ask
other than rant.
Overall I am quite disappointed with the developments. As a python
dev, here are few things -
